I wake up in the morning
The call of birds being my alarm
I sit down with a cup of tea
The shining sun being my light.
As time passes, I can now smell
The scent of food being cooked downstairs
It slowly wafts in, through
The open windows of my room.
Everything around me is so still
Its as if someone clicked a pause button
And halted the daily hustle of man
To give him the taste of a different life.
This life is not his usual one
It is much slower and calm
It is a life of discovering nature
A life where there is no running around.
Now that we are here, we realise
We never had this much time
To live and spend our life like this
Enjoying little sounds and aromas.
A silence is spread through the morning
And it is one before the storm
The storm that lies overhead
Filled to the brim with loss and misery.
But another storm is hurling itself
In the direction of human race
The storm propelled by hope
And bursting with renewed energy.
It patiently waits, for us to emerge out
Of the storm overhead.
It waits for us to move on, ever stronger,
For us to regrow and re-establish.
We all need to fight this
And push the storm of loss away.
We need to walk headfirst into the next
And begin our lives all over again.
But before that we need to enjoy this silence
It is one that we never had, nor ever will
As once we enter the storm of rebuilding
There will be no going back.
